Listen to these educational classics any time, professionally narrated in a lovely English accent.
The Kickstarter has been funded and production of the audiobooks is underway. In just a few short months we will be able to listen to Charlotte Mason’s words for ourselves. All six books read in a delightful English accent.
Read on for some information about the production of the books and the talent behind them and join our mailing list if you’d like to be notified when you can pre-order them here on my site.
The Project
For over 100 years the wisdom found in Charlotte Mason’s Home Education Series has formed the backbone of many children’s education. After falling out of print for several years I made these classic works available once more in easy-to-handle, carefully transcribed, reformatted editions. Since then I’ve been working to make it even easier for families to learn and implement her ideas. Audiobooks are the natural next step, allowing parents and teachers to listen to her work while on the go.
A project of this scope is a huge undertaking so I knew I needed the right voice. I wanted the listener to feel they were having a cup of tea with a wise mentor, someone passionate about what they were teaching and excited to share it with fresh ears. Over 300 people listened to a sample of 8 different readers and there was a very clear favorite…
The Narrator – Katie Pattinson
Katie is a professional voiceover artist and actress. She has voiced numerous audiobooks for the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) as well as dubbed for the Oscar-winning film ‘The Theory of Everything’ and recorded voiceovers for clients such as LEGO, Pampers, Google, the Tower of London, National Trust, Oxford University Press and the BBC.
Born into a long line of teachers (her father taught physics at a secondary school and her mother taught music and movement at a PNEU school in the UK), Katie finished her education at Cambridge University followed by a year at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. After touring the world in many theatre productions, playing in theatres as far afield as Hong Kong, the Arctic Circle, London’s West End and the Lake District, Katie then met her husband and, whilst their two children were young, set up the Mini Mozart music and story-telling group in Maida Vale, London, for babies, toddlers and their parents!
Katie is familiar with Charlotte Mason and her philosophies, both through her mother’s work at a PNEU school as well as having read For The Children’s Sake in preparation for narrating the series.
